Mumbai, Sept. 15 -- The gains followed calls from leading AI executives for a slower pace of development.

The Nifty IT index surged 4.02% to 30,084.20. HCL Technologies led the gains, rising 5.96%, followed by Mphasis at 5.16%.

Tech Mahindra advanced 4.93%, while Infosys and TCS gained 4.53% and 4.50%, respectively. LTIMindtree rose 4.40%, while Wipro and Persistent Systems gained 2.99% and 2.66%. Oracle Financial Services Software rose 1.59%.

Coforge was the only laggard among the listed stocks, declining 1.49%.

The buying followed calls from senior AI industry executives for greater caution over the pace of AI development. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei urged AI companies to slow the advancement of model capabilities.
