Mumbai, Oct. 9 -- Wholesale inventories in the United States increased by 0.5% in August compared to the revised July reading, reaching $964.2 billion, the Census Bureau said in its report published on Thursday. Year-over-year, the figure was up by 6.4%.
Sales of merchant wholesalers, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading-day differences but not for price changes, stood at $817.5 billion, climbing 1.8% on a monthly basis and surging 15.6% on an annual basis.
The ratio between inventories and sales for merchant wholesalers was 1.18, compared to 1.28 registered in August 2025.
