Mumbai, Oct. 7 -- The United States trade deficit in goods and services saw a monthly increase of $12.7 billion, or 13.7%, to $105.6 billion in August, the country's Census Bureau and Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) said in their report published on Tuesday. July's deficit was revised to $92.8 billion.

Exports from the US rose by 1.4%, or $4.5 billion month-on-month, to $315.2 billion. Meanwhile, imports rose by 4.3%, or $17.2 billion, to $420.8 billion.

In the first eight months of 2026, the overall trade deficit decreased by 19.9%, or $138.2 billion, compared with the same period in 2025. Exports increased by 11.8%, or $267.7 billion, while imports grew by 4.4%, or $129.5 billion.
