Mumbai, July 2 -- Manufacturing sector activity fell in June, according to a report by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) published on Wednesday. The manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) fell by 0.7 points from May to 53.3%.
New orders grew, but at a softer pace than in May, with the related index down 0.8 points to 56%, while the production indicator fell by 2.1 points to 52.2%. Prices kept rising, but the index plunged 9.1 points from May to 73%, backlogs decreased by 1.7 points to 50.5%, and employment added 1.1 points to 49.7%.
