Mumbai, Oct. 1 -- The gross domestic product (GDP) of the United States rose at an annual rate of 2.2% in the second quarter of 2026, the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced in its third estimate on Wednesday.

"The contributors to the increase in real GDP in the second quarter were consumer spending, investment, and exports. Imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, increased," report said.

The price index for gross domestic purchases gained 5.6% in the latest quarter, compared to the previous estimate's 5.8%. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index added 5%. Excluding food and energy prices, the PCE price index saw a 3.3% incline, down 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous estimate.
