Mumbai, Sept. 15 -- The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States contracted by 7.5% on a monthly basis to 47.8 points in September, according to the preliminary report published by the University of Michigan on Friday. On an annual basis, the figure is seen to have decreased by 13.2%.
The Current Economic Conditions Index slid by 1.9% month-on-month and dropped by 15.7% compared to September 2025. The Index of Consumer Expectations fell 11.1% compared to August, sinking by 11.4% year-over-year.
