Mumbai, Oct. 5 -- Construction spending in the United States amounted to $2.2 trillion in August, increasing 0.9% in comparison to July, the US Census Bureau revealed in a report on Thursday. Year over year, the figure fell 1.7%.

During the first eight months of 2026, the value of construction came in at $1.45 trillion, down 3.1% from $1.49 trillion registered in the same eight-month period of 2025.

Private construction spending was up 1.1% month on month in August, standing at $1.65 trillion, while public construction spending was at $547.8 billion, 0.2% higher compared to July.
