Mumbai, Sept. 15 -- The rate of unemployment in the United Kingdom came in at 4.9% in the three months to July, remaining unchanged from the previous reading, the Office for National Statistics revealed in its report on Tuesday.

The number of employed individuals increased by 67,000 in July, slowing from the 83,000 recorded in June. Meanwhile, the number of people claiming jobless benefits climbed by 27,800 in August, compared with a revised decrease of 11,800 in July and coming in above the expected 8,300 gain.
