Mumbai, April 24 -- The United Kingdom's retail sales increased by 1.7% in March compared to the same month in the previous year, according to the country's Office for National Statistics, which published its report on Friday.

On a monthly basis, the figure rose by 0.7%. Automotive fuel recorded a 6.1% jump in the reported month, followed by a 1.4% jump in non-store retailing. On the other hand, food stores slumped by 0.8%.

In the three months to March 2026, retail sales volume advanced by 1.6% compared to the previous three-month period and by 2.7% compared to the same period a year ago.
