Mumbai, Aug. 13 -- The United Kingdom's gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.4% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the previous three-month period, the Office for National Statistics said in its preliminary report on Thursday. The figure followed growth of 0.6% in the first quarter of 2026.
During the April to June period, quarter-on-quarter, the services sector experienced a 0.5% growth. Construction also increased by 0.3%, while the production sector stagnated.
Compared with the same quarter a year earlier, the UK economy expanded by 1.2%, while the services sector rose 1.5% and the production sector improved by 0.3%. Real GDP per head is estimated to have increased by 0.4% in the quarter and by 1% year-on-year.
