Mumbai, March 31 -- The seasonally adjusted industrial production index in Japan observed a monthly decrease of 2.1% to reach 102.3 in February, the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said in its preliminary report on Tuesday.

Compared to the same month in 2025, the figure went up by 0.3%. Meanwhile, the shipments index decreased by 1.6% month-on-month to land at 100.5, and was down 0.2% year-on-year. The inventories index came in at 98.1, increasing 0.3% compared to the previous month and falling 3.4% when compared to February 2025.

The inventory ratio stood at 103.5, up 2.3% on a monthly basis and down by 1% on an annual one.
