Mumbai, April 30 -- The seasonally adjusted industrial production index in Japan observed a monthly decrease of 0.5% to reach 101.9 in March, the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said in its preliminary report on Thursday.

Compared to the same month in 2025, the figure went up by 2.3%. Meanwhile, the shipments index decreased by 1.1% month-on-month to land at 99.5, and was up 2% year-on-year. The inventories index came in at 96.6, decreasing 1.5% compared to the previous month and falling 4.9% when compared to March 2025.

The inventory ratio stood at 102.8, down 0.4% on a monthly basis and down by 5.3% on an annual one.
