Mumbai, Aug. 19 -- The euro area current account advanced by €9 billion in June compared to May, landing at a surplus of €35 billion, the European Central Bank said on Wednesday in the monthly balance of payments report. The surplus was driven by goods at €18 billion and services at €17 billion. Primary income saw a surplus of €17 billion while secondary income deficit landed at €16 billion.
In the last year, the current account surplus amounted to €276 billion or 1.7% of the Eurozone's gross domestic product (GDP), which was 2% less than the previous year.
