Mumbai, Sept. 25 -- China's Leading Economic Index (LEI), which tracks the direction of economic activity, fell 0.2% in August 2026 to 148.2, according to The Conference Board. This followed a similar 0.2% decline in July.

Over the six months to August, the LEI dropped 1.7%, compared with a 1.0% decline in the previous six-month period.

Meanwhile, China's Coincident Economic Index (CEI), which reflects current economic activity, rose 0.6% in August to 158.8. This partly reversed the 0.8% fall recorded in July.

However, the CEI grew only 0.1% over the six months to August, slower than the 0.8% growth recorded in the previous six-month period.
