Mumbai, June 16 -- China's industrial production advanced by 4.5% in May compared to the same time last year, according to Tuesday's data from China's National Bureau of Statistics. The figure came in higher than last month's 4.1%, exceeding expectations.

When observed by types of ownership on a yearly basis, share-holding and private enterprises grew by 5.2% and 2.7%, respectively, while state-holding enterprises saw an increase of 3.7%.

Enterprises funded by foreign investors or investors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan expanded by 1.9% year-on-year.
