Mumbai, Sept. 2 -- Australia's economy expanded 0.4% quarter-on-quarter in Q2 2026, accelerating from 0.3% in Q1. Growth was supported by resilient household consumption, a rebound in government spending and stronger mining exports, while net trade made its first positive contribution since late 2023. However, private investment contracted for the first time in a year amid weaker machinery spending. Annual GDP growth moderated to 2.1% from 2.5% in Q1, signalling a gradual loss of momentum despite the stronger quarterly performance.
