Mumbai, April 10 -- Global Sugar prices continue to slide amid volatile crude oil prices. New York Raw sugar futures dipped around 2% to break under 14 cents per pound mark in last session. The counter tested around one-month lows following this as markets eyed rising sugar production in India. The sugar production in India in the 2025-26 season has seen 9.50% rise, due to ramping up in the sugar production by two states - Maharashtra and Karnataka, according to the Indian Sugar and Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA). The sugar production in the 2025-26 season, as of the FY26 ended on March 31, has risen to 272.31 lakh tonnes, up from 248.78 lakh tonnes, compared to the last FY25.
