Mumbai, Sept. 11 -- The benchmark indices came off the day's high in afternoon trade as a weakening rupee, higher crude oil prices and elevated global bond yields weighed on sentiment. The Nifty slipped below the 23,350 level. Realty, financials and oil & gas stocks declined while IT & media shares managed to buck the trend.

At 13:25 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex declined 405.20 points or 0.54% to 74,497.39. The Nifty 50 index declined 139.65 points or 0.59% to 23,338.15.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 0.50% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index dropped 0.66%.

The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 1,525 shares rose and 2,660 shares fell. A total of 258 shares were unchanged.
