Nairobi, Oct. 29 -- The High Court has barred the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) from reducing judges' medical cover and daily subsistence allowances, adding a new twist to a prolonged dispute over judicial officers' employment benefits.

The court ruled that the commission overstepped its constitutional mandate by altering benefits reserved for the Judicial Service Commission to review and recommend, in violation of judicial independence.
