Nairobi, April 7 -- The State released Sh3.52 billion to compensate oil marketing firms for losses incurred at the defunct Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited (KPRL), Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu said.
New disclosures show the long-delayed compensation cash was released by the State Department for Petroleum in April 2025, with payouts to affected oil marketers expected to be concluded within the current 2025/26 financial year.
"On April 24, 2025, the State Department for Petroleum transferred to KPRL Sh3,515,911,634 to begin the settlement process.
