Nairobi, April 8 -- Lebanese construction firm, Zakhem International Construction Company Limited, has threatened legal action against the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) over an alleged unpaid debt of $6 million (approximately Sh781 million), reigniting a long-running court dispute.
In a demand letter issued through the law firm of Ahmednasir Abdullahi, Zakhem gave KPC two weeks to settle the amount or face fresh legal proceedings.
The claim stems from a partial decree issued by the High Court on June 16, 2020, which ordered KPC to pay the Lebanese contractor $44 million (Sh5.72 billion). Zakhem was contracted in 2014 to replace the Nairobi-Mombasa pipeline for Sh48 billion.
