Nairobi, Sept. 3 -- Kenya's largest carriers have disclosed that they lost up to Sh976 million in lost revenues and disruption related costs due to the two-day strike of aviation workers, highlighting the toll the industrial action took on the country's aviation industry.

Kenya Airways (KQ), which uses JKIA as its hub, said it lost up to $7 million (Sh906 million) in the two days of the strike, which includes lost air fare revenues and other costs such as customer accommodation, meals, transportation, rebooking, and compensation, among others.

"Over the three days, the airline cancelled 63 flights and experienced more than 160 flight delays, with average delays exceeding six hours," said KQ board chairman Kiprono Kittony.
