Nairobi, April 29 -- On April 26 every year, we commemorate World Intellectual Property (IP) Day. In an effort to broaden public awareness of IP, member nations of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) chose this day in 2000 to mark the 1970 implementation of the Convention Establishing WIPO.

World Intellectual Property Day is WIPO's largest public engagement initiative. Every year, it works with an array of entities to host events to commemorate the day.

Such activities include, but are not limited to: concerts, youth essay contests, free lectures or seminars at institutions, exhibits in museums, art galleries, schools, and other educational facilities focused on the World Intellectual Property Day theme.
