Nairobi, May 6 -- Del Monte Kenya has invested Sh129.2 million ($1 million) to launch new products, including energy and carbonated drinks such lemonades that will be sold in aluminum cans.
The company said the investment is in the form a new machine acquired from Italy, which will be used in the production of these new drinks among others.
The rollout is expected in the coming weeks and later in the year under different phases, as the company targets new customers and consumption occasions.
This shift is aimed at single-serve, on-the-go use, where cans have an advantage.
Cans chill faster, fit vending machines, and are more widely recycled in many markets while cartons will remain in place for larger, at-home consumption.
