Nairobi, May 6 -- A court has faulted the Geothermal Development Corporation (GDC) for dismissing an accountant over fraud allegations, finding the action unjustified amid claims he was targeted for whistleblowing on alleged corruption within the State Corporation's pension scheme.

The Employment and Labour Relations found that GDC failed to prove valid reasons for summarily dismissing Mr Benjamin Mbugua, despite following internal disciplinary procedures.

Mr Mbugua, who had worked from September 2009, was dismissed on June 2, 2023 over allegations of fraud and obtaining money by false pretences.
