Srinagar, April 5 -- The Traffic Police J&K, under the directions of the Inspector General of Traffic Police- J&K, have initiated an intensive enforcement drive against the illegal use of pressure horns across the Union Territory. In a handout issued today, the Traffic Police reiterated that Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, in its directions dated 10.12.2013 in SLP No. (C) 25237/2010 titled Abhay Singh VS State of Uttar Pradesh & Ors., has banned the use of all types of pressure horns. Further, the use of such horns constitutes an offence under Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, which may attract a fine up toRs.10,000/- and imprisonment up to six months.
