Srinagar, Aug 27, Aug. 28 -- Sujit Kumar on Wednesday took over as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, succeeding V K Birdi after a major police reshuffle ordered by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. Kumar formally took over the charge this afternoon, shortly after the Home Department ordered a major reshuffle in the police department.Earlier in the day, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir ordered transfers and postings of 14 police officers.As part of the reshuffle, Sujit Kumar, IPS (AGMUT:2007), who was serving as IG Security J&K, was posted as IG Kashmir Zone.V K Birdi, who was holding the charge of IGP Kashmir, has been relieved of the post following the new posting.Sujit has earlier served in various important capacities in J&K includi...
