Srinagar, August 6, Aug. 6 -- Srinagar Police have summoned People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti to join an investigation after registering a case over the alleged assault of a police officer during a protest in the city earlier this week. According to police, the incident took place on August 4 during a demonstration led by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti at S.K. Park. The protestors allegedly attempted to march towards Lal Chowk despite permission having been denied by the authorities. Police said some demonstrators tried to breach barricades and block Residency Road, leading to a scuffle with security personnel.
