Srinagar, Aug. 1 -- Established in 1979, District Hospital Pulwama was envisioned as the primary health institution for South Kashmir, designed to cater to the medical needs of Pulwama and adjoining districts including Shopian and parts of Budgam. Located at the heart of Pulwama town, its geographic centrality was meant to ensure easy access for patients from rural as well as urban belts. However, more than four decades later, the hospital now struggles to deliver even basic healthcare services in an efficient, dignified, and transparent manner.The hospital currently houses five main departments: General Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Orthopedics.
