Jammu, Feb 23, Feb. 24 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government has spent over Rs.487 crore on flood management projects since the devastating 2014 deluge. The investment includes strengthening embankments, dredging rivers and nallahs, upgrading pumping stations, and reinforcing flood control infrastructure. Phase-I of the Flood Management Programme (Rs.399.29 crore) is largely complete, increasing the Jhelum river's flood-carrying capacity from 31,800 to 41,000 cusecs.
