Srinagar, Aug. 10 -- Whenever the legal luminary and teacher Atyab Siddiqui visits any place near Delhi Junction, he makes it a point to take a detour and see Mor Sarai Railway Colony. He spent many of his childhood years here after a flat was allotted to his father, Comrade Aftab Ahmad Siddiqui, in this first railway colony of the capital. Built in 1919, the colony greets visitors with old, crumbling walls that seem tired and neglected, as if no one felt the need to repair them any longer. Broken windows in many houses stand like silent witnesses, evidence that these homes have lain empty for a long time.
