Srinagar, Oct. 7 -- There was a time when childhood did not need to be organised. Children did not need calendars filled with activities, carefully selected entertainment or a device placed in their hands whenever they complained of boredom. They simply went outside. A few friends gathered in a lane, a playground, an open field or sometimes even a small space between houses, and an entire afternoon could disappear without anyone noticing. There was no need for expensive toys or sophisticated equipment. A ball, a bicycle, a skipping rope or even an ordinary piece of wood could become part of a game.
