Srinagar, Oct 21, Oct. 22 -- In response to media reports regarding APEDA's demand for the refund of funds released for the Integrated Pack House and Cold Chamber Storage Project at Chowdrigund, Shopian, the Jammu and Kashmir Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (JKHPMC) has clarified that the matter needs to be viewed in the context of the proposed revival of the project. The project, conceived in 2005 with assistance from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), could not be completed despite repeated extensions, primarily due to the frequent site and project design changes and default of the executing contractor.
