Jammu, Feb 7, Feb. 8 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday highlighted significant reforms in the school education system, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on access, inclusivity, and quality. Literacy in the Union Territory has risen sharply, from 11.03% in 1961 to 68.74% in 2011, with student enrolment continuing to grow. J&K now has 24,137 schools, including 18,724 government institutions and 5,413 managed by other agencies. In 2024-25, total student enrolment from pre-primary to Class XII crossed 26.17 lakh.Gender inclusion has improved significantly, with the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) for girls exceeding overall averages: 114.5 at primary, 80.0 at upper primary, and 67.5 at secondary levels....
