Srinagar, Sept. 25 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed heated exchanges on Friday after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah moved a resolution seeking the immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The resolution referred to two earlier resolutions passed by the House, including the June 26, 2000 resolution on autonomy and the November 6, 2024 resolution seeking restoration of special status. It also called for forwarding the latest resolution to the Government of India. The reference to the 2000 autonomy resolution triggered strong objections from BJP members.
