Srinagar, Aug 11, Aug. 11 -- Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi on Tuesday said adequate security arrangements have been put in place across the Valley for Independence Day celebrations and urged people to participate in the events in large numbers. Speaking to reporters, Birdi said Independence Day celebrations are essentially a function of the people, while police and other security agencies are responsible for organising and securing the events. "It is a people's function. We are only organizers. People should participate in large numbers," the IGP said.
