Srinagar, Aug. 4 -- The emergence of Srinagar and Jammu as the two million-plus urban agglomerations of Jammu and Kashmir represents a historic milestone in the Union Territory's urban evolution. Together, these cities accommodate about 65 percent of the urban population which is a substantial share of the J&K's urban population and function as its administrative, commercial, educational, healthcare, tourism, transport, and service-sector hubs.
