Srinagar, August 14, Aug. 14 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police chief DGP Nalin Prabhat, accompanied by IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, on Friday visited rural areas of Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam to review the security situation and assess the functioning of the ground-level security grid ahead of Independence Day. During the visit, the senior officers reviewed security arrangements across the three South Kashmir districts and assessed deployments, surveillance mechanisms and measures in place to monitor vulnerable areas. The visit comes amid heightened security concerns in South Kashmir following recent incidents, including the killing of a J&K Police head constable in Anantnag on July 22 and the shooting of two migrant workers in Kulgam on July 31.
