Assam Rifles honours 1973 bravehearts
Imphal, Aug 2, Aug. 3 -- Assam Rifles on Saturday paid solemn tribute to three brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during an encounter with an unidentified armed group in Manipur on August 1, 1973, by organising a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate their valour and devotion to the nation. The ceremony honoured Naik/GD (Late) Harka Bahadur Chhetri, Rifleman/GD (Late) Yam Bahadur Chhetri, and Lance Naik/GD (Late) Lal Bahadur Chhetri, who were killed in action while courageously confronting hostile elements.According to official details, on August 1, 1973, a convoy comprising seven personnel, including an Army driver and an Army Non-Commissioned Officer, was moving along the Dimapur-Imphal road at around 10:30 am when it came un...
