Assam Rifles busts drug racket in Agartala
Srinagar, July 4 -- In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking in the Northeast, the Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, conducted two separate intelligence-based joint operations with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Agartala, and Cachar Police, seizing a huge quantity of codeine-based cough syrup valued at over Rs.1.34 crore and apprehending two alleged smugglers. The first operation was carried out at Agartala Railway Station in Tripura, where Assam Rifles and DRI officials intercepted a consignment containing 55,626 bottles of illegal codeine-based cough syrup.
