Kargil, July 5, July 6 -- Endurance runner Anuj Mahajan from Jammu created a memorable milestone by becoming the first participant to complete the 10 km race barefoot at the Sarhad Shauryathon 2026 - Kargil International Marathon. Hosted by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Pune-based NGO Sarhad, the high-altitude marathon is organized to honor the courage, sacrifice, and indomitable spirit of the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War.Running barefoot was not a sporting challenge for Anuj Mahajan-it was a heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who fought under some of the harshest conditions to safeguard the nation's sovereignty.
