Amarnath Yatra Halted From Jammu as Rain Raises Landslide Risk Along NH-44
Jammu, August 8, Aug. 8 -- The Shri Amarnath Yatra was temporarily suspended from Jammu on Saturday amid persistent rainfall and deteriorating weather conditions in Ramban district and parts of Kashmir, raising concerns over the safety of pilgrims travelling along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and other routes leading to the pilgrimage sites. As a precautionary measure, authorities did not allow a fresh batch of pilgrims to leave the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu. Officials said the decision was taken while weather conditions and the status of roads are being closely monitored.
