Srinagar, Aug. 21 -- Eight people were killed after a civilian-contracted charter aircraft crashed near a remote radar installation in western Alaska, authorities said. The aircraft went down on Thursday while approaching the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site Airport, located around 450 miles (725 kilometres) west of Anchorage. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the aircraft was carrying two pilots and six passengers. It had departed from Anchorage and was believed to have crashed during its approach to Cape Newenham.
