New Delhi, Aug. 27 -- IBM has completed its acquisition of HRL Laboratories, bringing together two major research organizations in a move designed to accelerate innovation across quantum computing, sensing, materials science, and advanced electronics.

Announced on August 26, 2026, the transaction adds HRL's extensive research capabilities to IBM's expanding quantum technology portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed. Previously owned by Boeing and General Motors, HRL has built expertise across silicon-spin qubits, quantum sensing, cryogenics, advanced communications, control electronics, manufacturing, packaging, interconnects, and materials science.
