Bangladesh, Sept. 24 -- Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has expressed sorrow over the death of firefighter member Shamim Ahmed, who was burnt attempting to extinguish the flames the erupted at a chemical warehouse in Tongi.

In a condolence message on Tuesday, he prayed for the salvation of Shamim's soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.

The interim prime minister also wished a swift recovery for four firefighters and a local youth who remain in hospital following the blaze.

He said, "Firefighters risk their own lives to save others. The example they set will remain worthy of emulation. The nation will gratefully remember their sacrifice."
