Dhaka, Oct. 14 -- Police have recovered the body of a young woman from inside a travel bag in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj.

Sonargaon Police chief Rashedul Hasan Khan said the body was found in Mograpara Union around 6pm on Tuesday.

Police said the woman appeared to be around 20 years old.

Family members of 18-year-old Saima Akter Mim claimed the body might be hers, who had been missing since Friday.

Mim lived with her husband Md Raihan in a rented house at Mograpara Union.

Officer Rashedul said efforts were under way to confirm the identity, as the family was "not fully certain".

Locals alerted police after detecting a foul smell from a bag on the Menikhali River slope under a bridge.
