Writ petition seeks to unseat Noakhali MP Hannan Masud over 'affidavit irregularities'
Bangladesh, Aug. 19 -- A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking an order declaring the Noakhali-6 parliamentary seat vacant over allegations that MP Abdul Hannan Masud concealed information and committed fraud in his election affidavit.
Nazmul Hossain, a voter and resident of Hatiya Upazila, filed the petition with the relevant High Court section on Wednesday. The petition is dated Jul 30.
Supreme Court lawyer ABM Ibrahim Khalil filed the writ on his behalf.
Khalil said the petition was listed for hearing before a High Court bench of Justice Razik-Al-Jalil and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury on Wednesday.
If it is not heard during the day, the matter could come up on Sunday, he added.
