Dhaka, April 30 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman says that workers and professionals are the main driving force behind the development, prosperity, and progress of any country.

He made this remark in a message issued on Thursday on the occasion of "International Workers' Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day 2026."

The prime minister said, "This year's theme of May Day is 'With healthy workers and their productive hands, a new dawn will come.' Embracing the spirit of this theme, May Day is being observed in Bangladesh alongside other countries around the world."
