Dhaka, May 16 -- A woman in Shariatpur has been detained after allegedly killing her husband during a domestic row and dismembering his body before attempting to conceal the remains in a neighbour's refrigerator.

She was reportedly caught after the smell raised suspicion.

Palang Model Police chief Shah Alam said body parts were recovered from multiple locations on Friday around 9:30pm based on information the detained woman provided.

The suspect, Asma Akter, is the wife of Zia Sardar of Ward 7, Dakkhin Mahmudpur in Shariatpur Sadar Upazila.

Asma, originally from Pirojpur, had married Zia -- a Malaysia-based expatriate -- eight years ago after the two got acquainted over the phone.
