Dhaka, Sept. 28 -- An unhappy relationship can affect far more than emotional wellbeing, according to relationship researchers and therapists, with studies linking persistent conflict to poor sleep, physical health problems and even a shorter lifespan.

Experts say poor-quality close relationships are considered a health risk factor comparable with, or greater than, smoking and physical inactivity, the BBC reports. Yet a growing body of research suggests many struggling relationships can recover if partners are willing to make changes.
